One of the key factors facilitating a successful viva is a well written and considered thesis. This session provides and overview of typical corrections given by examiners following PhD and MSc viva’s and thus, how to avoid them in the first instance. The session is based on the presenter’s experience of external examining and chairing numerous research degree viva’s. Although these suggestions are of direct interest to postgraduate student’s they can easily be transferred to undergraduate lab reports and projects and also as guidance for staff beginning their supervision journey.
